Have you ever done a good deed and realized you probably should have just left it alone? I was just on my way home from work and was driving through kemah when I saw a guy pushing his moped on the side of 146. I figured he was out of gas and i had a full can in the back of my truck so I busted a u turn and and stopped to ask him. He told me the gauge showed full but when he looked in the tank it was empty. While I was filling it up I was talking with him and noticed he was a bit off, and I could smell the alcohol on his breathe. Then he started the moped which he left in gear and it drug him down the street and almost into traffic till he crashed to the ground. I thought to myself what have I done he is going to kill himself or somebody else as he stood up and took off again. I jumped in my truck and followed him down the street with my four ways on till I got to my turn as he was all over the road. God speed guy, I hope you make it home safe. Sorry for the long read I was just in awe.

Yep. Gave a guy some gas as well and then watched takeoff and almost hit a car head on. Then he crossed over 2 lanes and was driving in the wrong lane for awhile. He made it about a mile and went to a store probably looking for more alcohol but it was a dry town. I couldnt follow him anymore but I really felt bad about helping him after that.

Indeed. I was about 7 or 8 and was in my uncles shop playing with things. Found 3 welding hoods and tried them on. For the life of me, I couldn't see out of them, tried on all three and still couldn't see anything. I decided I was going to help my uncle and myself out by taking a hammer to the outside to rid the tinted glass so we could see out of them. That turned into a bad deal when he found them. Whoops!

Was a witness at a wreck in Rosenberg. Guy flipped his van into the ditch. Got out and helped direct traffic next thing I know everyone else that stopped is gone and the guy is takinga whizz on the opposite side of my car. I was thinking, "ok no big deal, you scared the pee out of yourself." He then asks for a ride to the next gas station. He seemed a bit odd, but I figured it was because he just climbed out of a wrecked van and was shaken. I say no and that we should wait for the cops/ambulance. He keeps pestering me and then tells me that the cops are supposed to meet him there. Whatever. The van is on fire at this point so I can understand the need to relocate. So we get in and I start driving. He Asks me where I'm going and I say "Houston." He tells me just to take him there and he'll come back for the van. At this point I know something isn't right. As I'm pulling in to said gas station I ask what his deal is.
"Man... I've had a beer...I don't want them to know that."
I highly doubt it was "a" beer.
I have never been so mad at a total stranger in my entire life! I pulled straight thru the gas station and told him I couldn't believe he put me in that situation and that I was taking him right back to the scene! He bailed pretty quick and I drive off just livid. Luckily, I was to call Rosenberg PD and let them know the situation and the guy's description.
Never again. Staying put at the scene next time.

I was in a long line at a red light, slowly approaching a driveway to my right, where a lady was wanting to pull out and get in line in front of me. We've all been in this situation before, I'm sure. I was in the outside lane of a 5 lane highway (2 lanes each way with center turn lane), and the inside lane to my left was clear. The end of that line was further up ahead. She had no blinker on, but appeared to be wanting to go the same direction as me, so I stopped and waved her out. Instead, she was wanting to turn left across our lanes, and go back the opposite direction. When she passed my lane and crossed into the inside lane, SMACK!!! She got T-boned by a truck she never saw coming. Totaled both vehicles, minor injuries only. I had to go to court over that one.
I no longer let people out of driveways in that situation anymore. I'm sure I get called names and cussed at. But hey, it's for your own safety.Last edited by Grizz83; 03-15-2015, 10:22 PM.

When I was 17 I was going to school one cold rainy morning and saw a woman and small child on the side of the road. I stopped and asked if she needed a ride and she said yes and got into the truck with the girl. I asked where they were headed and they were going to some apartments near the school. It was about a 10 mile drive and during the drive she told me she was leaving her husband. I didn't know her or her husband but I couldn't get to those apartments and get her out of my truck fast enough. My truck was pretty easy to recognize and I looked over my shoulder for quite a while watching for a mad husband.

Gutman, that's on him...you should feel good about helping someone in need. What they do with your generosity is on them, and that's how the good book says you should look at it. Next time it may be the helping hand someone was desperately needing, or the next 3 times it could blow up in your face, but you did right every time and that's what matters.

My brother was stopped at a stop light and had his window down smoking a cigarette. A homeless lady walks up to him and asks for a cigarette. He pulls one out and hands it to her. About the time she took it, the light turned green, he told her "enjoy the cigarette" and took off. Said he barely got going and saw her in his side view mirror waving her arms, hollering "I ain't got no light!!!". I think I was crying when he told the story. Talk about trying to help someone out, and then probably just making it even worse for them lol
