I usually build them 4' wide and 8' long
I use 2x6 but if your son is older the mound might be higher
the 2x6x8 will have a 24" top and then you want to slope 1" per foot
I will use 4 2x6x8 sloped like that
then I will put a 4' backing and then I will put cross support throughout
on top I use 2x6 long ways to support all the weight.
These I just built are 30" wide by 6' long due to customer wanting it to be easily transported.
The smaller on will i think will work better for people that move the mound alot. If you live in Atascocita i could build you one if you want. I would just charge you material if you wanted. The small ones are about 55 dollars in material.

I'll take you up on that offer. I'm on spring break this week and dont mind coming by and helping out and bringing you some of your favorite beverage of choice.
You can get one of these once the glue for carpet dries. I can meet you Tuesday evening and drop it off. I use wood for mound as well due to rubber getting tore up so quick. It will be around 8 if that's ok my son has practice.
