Having been in sales for over 15 years you can not count on commission. You only make commission if you are selling items. If you have 5 other sales people in the dealership you will be competing with them as well.

If you view it as a good deal then go for it.

One other plus the boss. But boss said he was gonna step back when he hired somebody. Plus he said he wanted to get rid of other guy but his dad hired him. Said he was very brash n rude.

Do what is right for you and yours. I have kicked the tires at various employers and the deal just was not right. Health insurance these days is the biggest thing with this guy running this country everything seems to be going up.

I would say no thanks do to the non guaranteed time off. Sure your potential boss said no problem during the interview but I guarantee his mood will change after you start.

I'm not sure I would go for it. But sometimes you need to take risks. Good luck in your choice.

                  Job offer, need some advice

Here's my take, and I've been self-employed for 42 years so what I say won't matter a whole lot, if the boss will guan tee you he's not going to sell and the only other salesman is brash and rude, looks like you stand a good chance at this.
If I read it right, you're making $11 an hour now. Ide be there Monday morning with my best sells pitch ready.
God bless you in your move Brother.

There's some interesting thoughts here. Pray and go with what you have peace about. Sales can be great when you're selling. The plus is that you have a base salary and it's not straight commission. Do you know if there are sales goals you will be required to reach? Pressure to sell can equal pressure to buy.

I prayed before interview, afterwards and this morning that if its His will, the door would be open. The guy told me yesterday that he had one more guy to talk to but would let me know this afternoon. Hadnt heard from him so i called around 4:40. Said he didnt talk to other guy but he liked me and i could have job if i wanted it.

That's only fair, BUT, some bosses don't take a notice too kindly.
Just go with your gut and do your best at whichever you choose.

I would say if you are not moving up in your current job, and looking at making 22k a year after 7 years already at that job, take the leap. I know it seems hard, and I don't mean this in a rude way, but 2 buck raise in 7 years is a stagnant job. Sales could be your ticket up and out, but don't allow yourself to get complacent, always keep your eye out for something that can grow your career. Good luck bud
