In the wake of the article I read 2 weeks ago (Linux and Mac OS X Most Vulnerable Operating System in 2014) I wasn't incredibly surprised when I read this on reddit this morning: CIA hacked iPhone, iPad and Mac security

Macs & iOS not as secure as you might think

Both articles you posted are ridiculous.
The title of the second one is...
"CIA Hacked Iphone, Ipad and Mac Security"
But in the article, it says they have no clue if they were successful or not. Yeah they tried.
"While the report details the efforts the CIA undertook to crack Apple's security measures, it or the documents don't say how successful the efforts were at undermining the security of iPhones, iPads and Macs."
That alone makes me distrust anything written in that article.
The other article... If you go look at the individual statistics, you can make them match anything you want to report on. The fact that all of OS X is grouped into one item, and Windows 8, 8.1, 7, Vista etc are all listed separately should throw up a red flag.

I will concede that the analysis done on the operating systems was vague at best and even fails to mention that Windows is also affected by heartbleed. The point I was making (as listed in the article title) is that these operating systems, that have a user base that has been spoon fed the mantra that they are more secure and more virus resistant, may not be as secure as previously thought.
