Not too sure about elephants in east Texas, but one day while riding the 4-wheeler to the afternoon hunt I did see an emu racing for cover. Seems that after the east Texas fire of 1990s someone had some exotic animals that escaped. The emu was the more tame, for a while we kept spotting a big black cat with a baby in tow. All this in the area of Etoile, Texas.
