need help with remington 6volt timer

I have a remington 6vlt feeder motor that has a clock timer that you turn a knob to set the time and place the little plastic pegs in the slots for the feed tiomes you want. it has a know for motor speed and a trst button that is supposed to give a 10 second delay and then run the motor for the duration / speed you have selected. When I press the test button, the motor spins immediately for just a second or so and a red light comes on {above the test button}. This light is normally green. What does this mean? i think it may mean the motor is junk and I need to get rid of it. Help !!!

The timer is junk, get rid of it and get a new timer.

Had same pron right out of the box w/ the quartz model. Got a digital now, never had probs w/ the Rem Dig.

All analogs are undependable. Digital is the way to go.

Remington's are junk and so are digitals - IMHO Go get a plain old "Classic Lifetime" feeder from "On Time!" Then you won't have to worry about your feeder for years and if it EVER breaks, they'll send you the parts for free! We run 58 feeders year-round, and have for 12 years, and only have one or two break per year; and "On Time" sends us the parts in 2-3 days after we call. Batteries last for 4-6 months and because the timer runs on its own battery and draws very little juice, it will always out last the feeder batteries; which means you never have to worry about the feeder going off at wierd times. They are hands-down the most reliable motors/timers on the market and are pretty darn cheap- $85-$95 retail. less if you buy in bulk directly from On Time!

Woody, i've had nothing but problems from the remington quartz timers. Mine did the exact same thing. I had two of them that wouldn't work right. The directions are vague and the duration of the spin would never seem to be the same as it was when i tested it. I would set it up and come back to find out the feeder was only spinning for like 1/2 a second or so. So I turned the duration up higher and then came back about a week or so later and had a huge pile of corn under the feeder because the dang thing would spin for like 30 seconds each time it went off. After a few weeks of that I chunked both of the quartz timers and got two of the Remington digital timers and haven't had a single problem since then. I would avoid them like the plague. You can pick up a digital timer at Academy for about $30 and hook it right up to the motor.

I have one and it works GREAT!! There IS NO DELAY on the test button, that is normal, it should spin as soon as you hit the button. I have not had a single problem with mine and after 3 months the time is still spot on.
Sorry that you having trouble with yours. Being so cheap I figured it would be crap but I am pretty impressed with mine.

i didn't have any problem with it keeping consistent time. the problem i had was the spin duration seemed to have a mind of its own.

My brother and I each bought one a month ago....His is working great, mine is crap. It's draining batteries like crazy, and hasn't thrown anythign in a month. My brother put a solar panle on his, and hasn't has a problem........Sounds like I should replace it with a digital.

I can tell that timer was the biggest headache I've had. Nothing more annoying than going to the lease and seeing that your feeder is only spinning for a 1/2 second or 30 seconds straight. Go buy the digital timer and a solar panel and your problems will be solved I bet.

I've got the digital model and haven't had any trouble with it at all. I'm waiting for the end of the season to pick up a couple more! I've never liked the analog timers...
