Need a job and have construction exp. ?

If you have experience in construction and work is slow, you might consider a position as a catastrophe adjuster. I worked hurricane Rita and Katrina in '05.

It's not a gravy job, but if you are willing to bust your tail you can make some good money.

I worked for Pilot Catastrophe services, & they called me Thursday asking if I wanted to be on standby for them. I declined because I have an executive management position now that I can't really leave.

Just thought I would pass that along.

The job entails heavy customer contact, long hours. Basically Pilot supplies Allstate and State Farm with adjusters in when something happens that generates a need for a large number of adjusters. If you have a Texas adjuster license it is valid in most states. If you don't have an adjusters license but have experience in estimating home or commercial construction or repairs, they can get you a temporary license in the state you are assigned.

You can apply online on their site: http://www.pilotcat.com/PageView.asp...e=R&edit_id=11

The more computer experience and construction experience you have the better.

            Some things you would need:
            laptop
            Printer
            goodladder
GPS or GPS software (street signs usually don't take hurricanes well)
            digital camera
            internet acess.

When I worked claims for Rita I looked at houses until dark and did paperwork until 2-3am and started again at 7:00am each day. No days off, just solid labor. It's not a job for everyone but it can be very rewarding.

i realized I didn't answer all the questions.

I was a property adjuster representing Allstate for Pilot.

You survey the damage caused by the storm. Document the damage with photos notes and measurements. You then file a claim both on the computer and hard copies and send them in to a processing center. You are paid a commission based on the claim amount.

You contact all the claimants and set up times to view the damages.

You will need to be well organized, good computer skills, and have a good working knowledge of home construction.

I hope that covers it better.
