    Ford Excursion interesting question!

My wife likes the Excursions. I'll admit I do to. I had a wild idea and knew the Green Screen was the place to ask this question. I'm finding several Excursions that are absolutely spotless inside and out. The problem is they've got the 6.0. So the question is could you replace it with a 7.3? Anyone got an idea what a 7.3 engine costs and the costs associated with pulling out the 6.0 and replacing it with a 7.3?

    Am I crazy here?

Bullet proof it, which consists of an egr delete, upgraded head gaskets, and head studs. Than do a tuner and you will be set, just make sure to do the scheduled maintenance on time.

Yes you are crazy. Buy the 6.0 put $5000 and have a truck that is just as reliable as a 7.3 and doesn't struggle to make it to 75mph and maintain that speed. Then use the extra money you saved and buy more toys

I have heard the same about the 6.0. The mods are not cheap but well worth the money if you like the vehicle and plan to keep it. I know a few guys who had this done to their fords and are happy with the results.

Tough question, but do you have an idea on the cost for those mods?

2 years back i bought a very clean 04' f 350 6.0 4x4 dually with the egr delete. It has every available option for $14000. I figured if the engine failed and I spent up to $10k on a new engine and have a like new truck for $24000. I did this after I looked at the price of new trucks. After 2 years the truck is still running like a champ and i have done nothing to it except regular maintenance.

4-5,000 depending on where you have it done. The mods will basically fix all the issues that were associated with the 6.0. I know several people that did this to their trucks, and haven't had any issues since the mods were done.

I have an 04 Excursion with a 6.0. I've had no problems at all with it.

I have 4 work trucks with 6.0 in them. I have only had problems with one of them. Finally got it straightened out.
