    Toyota Highlander

My wife wants a Highlander. Problem is that only offer 3 models.

    30-32k for basic LE Plus
    37-38k XLE
    41-43k Limited

To sum up my wife wants the LE Plus but with the captain chair seats ONLY offered in the XLE. She has no need for the 2k+ nav system, better rims and all the other stuff that adds just over 6k to the price.

The dealer says it can't be done... Opinions? I know anything "can" be done, but since these vehicles sell fast I'm wondering if I actually have a chance at getting what the wife wants.

My wife has the base model, Brother has the limited, and brother in law has the xle....That being said I have been in all three a bunch. All are great vehicles. I also happened to work at a dealership for a while. You are correct, anything "can" be done, but these do not sit on the lot long enough to get "that" done for you. They will sell faster than the work can be done....therefore it is not profitable for the dealership to do work. My suggestion is to get the model that your wife likes the options that fits in your price point. Great vehicles and very dependable. I love my Yota's.

What's a good percent to get off MSRP? If sticker is 39k would drive out for 39k be about the best I could hope for?

And how much is the dealership "cost" for an extended 100k mile bumper to bumper warranty?

There is wiggle room on any deal at the dealership. You just have to understand that a vehicle that will sale for sticker will not have as much room to wiggle. The finance manager will be able to tell you about all of the ext warranties that are out there. I went with the (as did the rest of my family) Toyota extended warranty. It is the best out there, and I worked in the service department. It will work "close" to how a factory warranty would. There are many more perks to it. Most importantly have them explain all the options to the warranties available. Toyota was the best for me and my family.
