    Addiction: is it possible to?

Become addicted to food? I know you need it to live, but is it normal to think about it constantly? I had surgery on my shoulder in the fall and before that I was constantly in the gym lifting weights. I weighed about 250 before my surgery and I am now up to 265. do not know if it I due to the depression of not being able to workout. I just know I need to find away to get it back under control.

Absolutely. Food releases chemicals in the brain that bring pleasure. It's 100% possible to be addicted to "food". Kinds of food are worse than others. Fast digesting sugary foods spike insulin levels an cause cravings of more to keep levels up. I have found that if you eat clean it's virtually impossible to over eat because your body will shut you off.

Hope you get it figured out

This exactly. The hard part is resisting those sugary "comfort foods".

If I am working at the ranch I do not get the cravings, but if I am at the house I snack constantly.

After my bowel surgeries in 2001 I became very depressed. I was very active, had just gotten married, had a great job, new wife etc, etc, and my life changed literally overnight.

Yes food is addicting, find something you can do under your current limitations, get to it, keep this thought in mind, that you want to get back to as close to what you were before you had surgery.

              Good luck brother.
