Ever Seen Deer In Hog Trap?

I Have 20 Acers In The Magnolia Area That Is Over Run By Hogs, I Have About 5 Friends And Myself Bow Hunting It Regularly. The Hogs Have Wised Up To When We Are In The Stands, So I Set Up A Hog Trap To Catch Afew Of The Hogs. One Of My Good Friends Said Be Careful That You Don't Catch A Deer In The Trap, So I Set Up A Trailcam @ The Door To See What Was Setting It Off. I Set It Up On Sunday Night And @ 4 O'clock Monday I Had 66 Pic's. I Closed The Door Until I Can Make Adjustments To The Trap To Keep The Deer Out. I Was Thinking Of Cutting A Hog Panel To Cover The Top Half Of The Opening, So A Deer Could Go Under It. Any Suggestions On How To Make The Trap Better Would Be Appreciated, thanks.

I watched a blacktail 2x2 climb up the fence on the side of a hog trap (6 feet) like a monkey, and push his head/antlers through the netting on top to get out this summer. I figured the guy wanted to live so bad, I couldn't shoot him when he landed on the ground.

The deer behind the traps looks like a shooter not sure what kind of corn you have there but put me down for a few tons of it when you buy some more. We have a hard time getting bucks to come eat corn under a broadcast feeder and you have them walking into a 3' x 4' pen !

Sour corn. Deer are not likely to go after that. Put 3lbs in a 5gal bucket w/ a can of keystone ('caus thats all its good for) and fill the bucket with water. 2 weeks later you have the makins for pig slop.

        Pigs like it, deer dont.

We've caught several over the years. Seems sour corn or diesel on the corn will keep them out.

When I was younger and going out to the lease with my dad we pulled up on one of our traps and had 2 doe inside the trap. Getting them out is the hard part.

Yea it is a toss up wheather him or the weening steer was more difficult to get out.

BUT I KNOW THE HARDEST THING TO GET OUT IS A WILD TOM TURKEY.
Do Not letanyone talk you into trying it.

                            I am not telling.

But if someone had a video camera it would have made Americas funniest.

That door style is notorious for catching deer. The ones that open upward seem to deter them more.
