    Dr. Deer

Just found my old 1965 Rice Owlet vs Baylor Cubs football program back when the Southwest Conference still had freshman teams. I was surprised to see who wore #75 for Baylor. Since Dr. Deer graduated from Baylor and was from Waco, I assume that is him. Who knew he was an athlete?

            Some slack please...

Trivia question for you more mature Baylor fans... Who remembers what #47 Walter Palmer's nickname was/is? In fact, I never heard of him refered to as Walter.

Being from Olney, I am sure Trailboss knows.

Biggest kid on there is a 6-4 240# tackle. Amazing. He'd be an average sized LB now, or a big safety.

Yes, that's him. I was at the BU home opener this year and walked past him. Walked over and introduced myself. Asked him if he attended many Baylor games and he said he played for BU back in the day and attends as many games as he can. I never knew that about him. I thought that was pretty cool.

I was actually surprised by how tall that team was for the time.

Yep, the picture cut off the top of the roster. They had a 6'3" QB, Rusty Clark from Houston. Alvin Flynn, from Tyler was their starting QB. He is the father of Matt Flynn, backup QB at Green Bay.

The coach, Catfish Smith, coached Don Meredith at Mount Vernon in the mid 50's.
