I have worn red wings for the last 12 years. I'm looking for a new pair as well and they will be Redwing for sure. I need a boot that stays together and isn't trash after 6 months or a year.
Seems like artiat or twisted x is the most popular
Not a lot of votes for HH so might have to reconsider those
One reason you don't see slot of double h recommended is the price. But with that price you are getting an American made boot that will out last the others. That's just my experience YMMV.
I have gotten less than a year out of the following:
2 pairs of ariats
1 pair of tony llama
1 pair of justin
Still going at almost two years on a pair of double h. I wear work boots at minimum 12hrs a day Monday through Friday. The ones I listed were all steel square toe.
I've worn redwing lineman boots for the past 9 years. I have 3 pairs because my old company issued boots every 2 years and I switch on and off sets every year or so. The appeal of these boots are the durability, waterproof, function and performance. The only draw back that people complain about is that they're heavy. After a couple months you don't even notice the difference though.
After many friends suggested slip on boots I went and bought a pair of tony lamas. Cost me almost $200 and after less then 6 months the inside portion of the heal was worn and cut into the frabic so bad that it rubbed my ankle raw and could not longer wear them. Long story short, if you won't to buy once redwing is where to go.
