What is an average cost for a cord of firewood? Mesquite and Oak

Just like the title says. Im wondering what the cost is not delivered. Seasoned and split in 16"-24" pieces.

For me its a tank of gas to the lease and a half day or so of hard work.

It's about 225 around here. Just make sure you get a full cord and not a face cord.

I guess you pay a premium when you live where there are no trees!

Where is that at? Is it seasoned or live oak?

I have this guy wanting to sale me some not 10 miles from me. I don't buy much firewood so I'm green on pricing. He is asking $100 for a cage full. He says its 1/3 cord. The cage measures 4'x4'x4'. Pic of what im talking about.

Jason, I may have to take you up on this offer. If its not seasoned and I cut/split it now would it be ready to burn by next deer season?

I have no clue if that's a good deal. I'm green just like you. I just know I have about an acre and a half of good firewood that I'm not gonna use lol

A cord is 4' x 4' x 8' or 128 Cu Ft. If those cages are 4x4x4 they contain 1/2 cord by volume. How much wood is in a cord or the cage is a function of how tightly it is stacked.

From the looks of the cages, I'd say $100 is a good price. I saw firewood at one of the local stores today--$4.47 for 5 pieces.

This, that is why I have stayed away from these cage deals. Cords are a volume measurement.

I have a place close by, selling a 4x4x4, half cords, for $145. Tight stacked on pallets, and banded.

Back when I cut some I was getting $120-150/cord delivered and stacked

Going rate for city folks is about $240 I think around here

Mesquite might bring a little more for the smokers, hickory used to being a premium around here and probably still does

I had one guy that always wanted a 1/2 cord, so I had him come help me cut, split and load a 1/2 cord. Gave him the keys to the truck when we were done and told him to bring my empty truck back. He hasn't asked for any more firewood, guess he is afraid he will have to work for it
