    Back on the lease search

Well some of you remember I posted a thread about finally finding a lease. Well after paying for it and working out there a weekend I get a text from the lease manager saying we lost the lease bc the neighbor offered the land owner more money. I'm supposed to get my money back this week so I'll have cash in hand. Looking for a hill country lease that has at least axis on it. Other exotics are a plus. I'm a very responsible, management minded hunter. Hard worker and just love being outdoors.

That's garbage. Sorry to hear man, I'll pass on any that I see for your area.

Ya it was an awesome place. When I put my money down I was thinking it was too good to be true. Guess in the end it was.

That is rediculous! It's all about the money anymore.

Dang that sucks!! You pay for a lease, start working on it for next season, then you find out you lost the place because someone offered the owner more money?!! Hunting will eventually be reserved for the very wealthy and no one else.

It's a huge let down. The worst part is we weren't even given the opportunity for us to match the offer given.

^^^^^^ I know the feeling. I lost my last lease we'd been on for 12 years when someone went and offered the ranch twice what we were paying. All of our hard work and all the bucks we'd been letting grow the new hunters got to reap the rewards. All we got was a letter stating we had been removed from the lease and we had two weeks to get our stuff off

Unfortunately I agree. I started paying for my own spot on a lease when I was 10 I believe. $500 dollars and was the best lease we've had to date, last year paid $2750 and it was nothing like the $500 dollar lease was. Probably hard to find a great place under 3k anymore and if you do don't let anyone else know about it our someone will out pay you for it!

I set my limit at $2500 and I don't think I can find the lease that I'm looking for $2500 anymore. I will either quit leasing or figure out how I can spend more on hunting. I'm not blaming anyone, I just personally can't afford it much longer

This place cost me $3k and I feel like I was getting an awesome deal. I never would have thought this would happen.

You're not alone. We had to find a couple ways to make extra money to pay for what we did. You still have to draw a limit eventually to where it's even worth it anymore. Hunting is supposed to be a fun deal but the price takes the fun out of it for the non rich folks.
