Food plot and Gustav?

Well I have my 1/2 acre pipeline plot disced to help get rid of weeds. I did not do soil text but put down 200 lbs pelletized lime with 80 lbs biologic PH fertilizer and disc all that in, been about 2 weeks. I see that gustav might bring rain (sorry, plot is near athens, TX). I will redisc then plant. Should I plant sept 1 right before gustav brings rain to ensure moisture or do I need another week or two to ensure best results. I will be planting green patch plus and winter peas. Also do you think I should throw in turnips? Thanks

Yes throw in turnips. I would wait until at least Sept. 15 to plant. All the rain in the world will not help a cool season plant survive 95 degree weather.
