    Greasy spoon

Now that I am in my second week back on my diet program (gettin too fat...again! It's much easier to buy bigger pants!!) I have been thinkin about all the good food I'm missin out on. I have been all over Texas and several places come to mind. So tell me, where is your favorite place to get fat and happy?

I havent been there in a while, but mine would have to be Catfish Junction in Broaddus, TX up on Lake Sam Rayburn. Fried catfish, gumbo, rice and gravy, bbq ribs, hotwater corn bread, veggies, hushpuppies and the best banana puddin ever made. I used to fish at Rayburn a lot. I would stay in the motel next to Catfish Junction. I dont know what I enjoyed more, the fishin or the food!

Floridas Kitchen in Livingston on the road to the prison. Catfish and ribs that will make you a fat boy all over again. And lets not forget the black eyed peas, fried okra, tater salad, cole slaw, candy yams, greens, and homeaded cakes and pies. Florida still watches over her kitchen and you ain't never had cooking like this in a restaraunt.

Otto's BBQ serves a mean, greasy, man-food breakfast here in Houston. The Chicken Oil Company in College Station (actually in Bryan) has the Snuffy Special and keeps the wood tables oiled with the food! The Longhorn Tavern in Bryan has an awsome Chicken-fried steak. All of them serve lots of food for not lots of cash.

Mom's Kitchen on Aldine Westfield in North Houston... now that's some serious "country cookin". Also not far from there is Chicken Express and they's got a lunch buffet that will fatten you rite up. It is like Mom's Kitchen 'cause some fo the Mom's folks left there and opened the "Express"... They both got some real good fried chicken, mashed taters and gravy. Mom's also has some purtty good dumplin's too. And the pies there... don't even get me started...

Herd's hamburgers in Jacksboro, TX. Probly the best double cheese burgers in the world.

I'm surprised this thread isn't longer than this. Usually food discussions do well on here. Oh wait ... it's lunch time so the reports will prob come flowing in later.

Whats that place out on 249 north of Tomball I believe, that has the chicken fried bacon that you dip in gravy? I haven't had it, but am thinking that might be worth a drive sometime. Anyone ever been there?
