    New AC for the house

Started having troubles last summer and then this fall all of a sudden the fan on the outside unit won't turn off just kept running, not full speed just running. Well thought I better get it checked and they say it's the compressor shorting out. Older unit so thinking, do I bite the big one and have a whole new unit or is it worth just doing the outside unit. Don't understand all this stuff about the old R22 and new R14????? Did a quick search but didn't see much about the cost either, how much am I looking at? Also anybody have any recomendations in the Fort Worth area?

I'm dumb as a stump when it comes to A/C stuff. Well everything really. Sorry I was no help. I just thought you could get some delight knowing there are others out there.

When mine bit the dust a few years ago, I replaced it with a Lennox 21 seer 2 speed unit. Had outside, inside and all duct work replaced. Best thing I ever did. Was is expensive? Yes. But, in the summer my electric bill is half of what it used to be. Basically, the unit is paying for itself. Call Walker A/C (Elliscountyhog on TBH). Great company with great people.

The electrical issue is not a difficult repair. It's the contact
          Switch $30 and 20 min

If you want a new unit don't half ars it and don't use the company that's feeding you this info. If you don't find some one up there you trust more , let me know

Thanks for the input guys, I am getting some help from Ron, and I'll give Elliscountyhog a shout too. I hate dealing with type of stuff, don't know squat about it. And then these days who you can trust. Good to know you can get on here for some help.
