Trap worked with marshmallows on my first try last night. Woke up at 2am to the sound of the cage being rattled so took care of him at that time. I have never trapped one (just shot with bow while hunting)...boy they def get mad when caged. I swear it barked at me a few times...haha.
Thanks for all the info. I will keep the cage for the second one and try the CCI if I can get my hands on some today.

Originally posted by SPDKLZ View PostI bought a new place last month. The place and neighborhood and numerous large oak and pecan trees as well as a drain river about 200 yards away from me.
My first order of business was cutting down five large oak trees (about 70 years old) and 18 smaller pines, saplings and oaks. The tree cutting guys said there was a raccoon in a neighbors tree and while they were up there cutting branches hanging on my side, it tried to bite them.
Well, shortly after moving in, the trash on my back patio was all over the place. I put up motion lights for my wife's peace of mind. Several nights a week, I see the lights come on and often find one of two raccoons walking around. One is pretty fat (maybe a pregnant female??) and the other is a little slimmer. I watched one for a while and sure enough, he crawled up my chain fence and then jumped a few foot to hook onto my neighbors tree. It climbed up the tree and went in. On top of that, I have also seen Possums cruising around.
I want to get rid of these this weekend. I thought of using my bow and tree climber and taking them out, but I am in a residential area, albeit removed from most of civilization. I am looking at setting traps out and relocating the critters.
Anyone in the Grand Prairie/Dallas are mind lend me a couple of small trips for a few days? If not, where can I buy some? Any thing in particular works best to get the critter into the trap?
Thanks in advance,
Rodrigo

I have neighbors in close proximity. Shooting a firearm would really raise concerns...SOOOO.
They get the Louisville slugger treatment when in the Duke trap. It helps with no fur damage. Relocation may be against the law. Check local regs.
I have caught them from time to time in a live trap and had to have my son run the weedwacker a bit at full throttle to muffle sound in garage. Very prime fur this time of year. I wonder if the Acetone syringe will work on coons in a cage. Hmmm.
The dogproof traps work great on coons and ONLY coons. So your target animal remains your target animal. They are NOT happy when you approach them for obvious reasons. Marshmallows work wonders on coons.

Obviously not everyone knows.
Or maybe they know the legality and don't care.
Maybe a reason like our turkey and quail population will help them care

Call animal control, I wouldn't mess with it. Too much legalities involved. If you don't have animal control drop them out of the tree with a .22 and throw them in the dumpster. That's what I would do. If they don't have people with jobs designated for that they must not be too worried about it.
