    Help with layer system

Due to a resent weight loss issue I have to opportunity buy a whole new layering system. Bitter sweet because of the money. I am focusing on a western mountain hunting system. I love first lite and will use them for my base layer. My questions are more toward mid layering. More wool or a synthetic? First lite kanab pants vs Sitka mountains? First lite chama or Sitka traverse? Which synthetic down insulting layer for spotting? I have a kyptek vest and apx outer and rain gear that I will make work. I just want to put the money in the right clothes that I will wear 90% of the time.
    Thanks

no experience with the 1st lite gear, but I love my sitka stuff. I usually go light on layering because i get hot real fast while hiking. I would wear either under armour or woolitimate as a 1st layer and have a jacket and a vest on over that. I would also carry a wool vest and a down jacket in case I got to cold while glassing. Get some gaiters for your boots also, those things are awesome

Underarmor infrared cold gear base layers are awesome. You can get into some cold stuff with the right layers without adding bulk.

Wool seems to take longer to dry out. But, synthetic clothing will smell horribly after only a day or two. So the answer to your question depends on the type of hunt you'll be on. I prefer wool on backpack hunts where weight and clothing is limited. If hunting out of a cabin, I'd probably lean toward synthetic.

Edit. You really need to check out Kuiu. It blows Sitka out of the water.

I'd suggest merino wool, probably first lite but I've got Cabela's, for your base layer. Its truly amazing how well merino wool works in a wide variety of temps. If it gets really cold layer on top.

Wearing merino bases during my elk hunt was great.Temps went from the upper 20's at altitude to nearly 70 down at camp. Put on a jacket when I'd sit/glass and I never got cold.
