I think I just tore my calf

I was sparring in TKD and as I was coming down on my balls of my feet I heard a pop and it felt like someone shot me in my calf. I Can't walk. I can only put pressure on my heel. If I try to lift up my toes it feels like the worst calf cramp ever.

What should I do? I have my leg up and on a heating pad. Took aleve.

RICE- Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation

Put ice in a bag and wrap it somewhat tight around your calf with cellophane. Sit in front of the tv, stack up some pillows, and sit back and relax.

                Athletic Trainer chiming in:

Ice for the pain, then begin gentle range of motion exercises to help move the swelling out. Monitor your self for compartment syndrome (Bad Deal! Emergency Situation, sx include but not limited to : Severe Pain, numbness or tingling in toes, white skin color around your toes, severe swelling).

Don't OD on anti-inflammatories such as Aleve and Advil. Too much can slow the healing process. Be on guard for compartment syndrome if there is significant swelling. Swelling in the lower leg is no joke.

Five gallon bucket with ice and water as long as you can stand. You could have a ruptured Achilles' tendon.

Should I see the doctor? Would a doctor do anything?

If you tore your calf muscle that is going to swell like a mu.... It's going to swell. I'd see a doc if for no other reason than to make sure the swelling isn't restricting blood flow. Compartment syndrome is nothing to fool around with. If you don't see a doc, check your circulation by pressing hard on your toenails. They should turn white when you press, but go back to pink when you let go. If they stay white - head to the emergency room.

Seeing a doc now is much cheaper and less time consuming compared to the hospital stay, potential loss of limb, etc. if you wait too long.
