    Gate opener

I did a quick search and see there is a ton of info on automatic gate openers on here. It seems all of them are looking at the battery/solar openers. I need advice on an electric 120 volt opener that is reasonably priced.

The gate is a 16' chainlink gate, so it isn't extremely heavy. I have electric at the gate. I don't need a keypad or anything fancy, just three or four of the button openers.

I've got a great automatic gate opener.

I look over and say "Woman, get that gate!"

I've got a Mighty Mule. Mine is solar but I believe it can also work off 120v. I've only had it up a couple months but it's working fine so far.

We use the mighty mule for our gate. Gets opened 3-6 times a day. We have had it for 3 years i would say. The main thing i would say is making sure when you set it up is setting the stop point correctly, and just follow the directions. Mine still uses the 12volt battery which is charged through a/c power. I just put a large lawnmower battery in it and works great

Same set up I have on a 12' steel square stock gate. It's been doing fine for 6 years.

most gate openers are battery powered, but have 120v wired in to keep the batteries charged. Once the batteries get old, 3-4 years, you have to replace the batteries. just had to do this to the one we have. I believe its a load master, about 6-7 years old.

I would get an Apollo 1550, with the 1050 board (more options).

You can look on gatecrafters.com to get some prices. I ordered from them, and was somewhat pleased.

                Top of the line.
Mighty mules are junk I've been given brand new ones and they go straight into the dumpster.
                Apollo is ok not great

Apollo is the best opener for the money. You can go to sleep waiting for a Mighty Mule to open.

Apollo or us automatic for longevity, liftmaster la 400 will get the job done though.

                          Gate opener

Are there any security issues with these....beyond the normal stuff like cutting locks and chains on a regular gate? Can they be pulled open without a code/controller?

Override if you lose power? We seem to lose power every time the wind blows in centerville

I use to install gate openers as an Apollo dealer I can say with confidence that I would never spend my hard earned money on an Apollo gate opener. Good luck to those that have them.
