We tried them. After a week or so we started calling them coons ladders.

If your trying to keep coons out one suggestion I can offer is axle grease. I put grease up near the spinner during the first fill up and it will keep the coons out the rest of the year.

No all they do is give them better traction and snag the hell out of your clothes.
Eliminator spin plates they only way to roll.

Do you put the grease on the legs themselves?

No, and grease will become a huge pain in the arse and doesn't work that well. Get an eliminator spin plate and never worry again.

I watched a coon climb right up a feeder leg that had a lot of axle grease on it. Sorry, no experience with the Shark Teeth, but I'm very skeptical.

Yea I normally put grease from near the top down to about a foot below the spinner. Its up to you just make sure they have to climb through it to reach the spinner. Coons are very meticulous there hands/food be very clean before they eat and take several hours a day to clean and groom themselves. So when they get covered in this stuff they normally give up.

Bad part is you have to watch what you bump into/grab haha

Some will say it won't work however I have a pack of coons that lives in a creek bottom about 20 yards from my feeder. They stop in there every night to check for corn on the ground. However for two years now I have yet to get a single picture of a coon on my legs since I started putting grease on my legs.

Yes it does help. At least it helps the coons climb up the legs.

I put a cheap TSC electric fence charger on the feeder drum and ran the wire on insulators on the inside of the legs. No more pictures of em hanging up side down on the cage anymore. They wait in the ground now like welfare recipients.

                          They suck on coons
They work really well when you grab them when your fillin feeders

The real way to do it is a coon cage that goes around the entire feeder barrel, not just the timer box. And an eliminator spin plate. That will coon proof your feeders. Do that, and trap and kill them. No more coons.

And the shark teeth aren't any good, or the carpet tack strips. Never tried grease, but a coon is greasy enough already and I don't need to add any more to em. Because they'll still get up there eventually
