Well the Texas Big Nasty Hog Contest started last night at midnight. My partent and myself are on shift today, so I'm going to start this tonight and will up-date as things move along. We have a month to poke some pork. Tomorrow night will be our 1st hunt. This is my 6th year to hunt this contest. I have had a 3rd place and a 2nd place. We have been in top 10 all but one year. So this should be our year. We have pulled things back alittle. Last year we has 11 stand sites in 3 counties. This year we are down to 5 with a few places to look at just in case.

From the pics we have been getting we feel good about killing 500 lbs on 2 hogs. That should get us close to the top. Time will tell. Good luck to everyone thats hunting this year. Lets start this thing.

Not much to tell. Hunted our deer lease. Only north wind stand we have. Hog have a history of pulling out of this place as winter moves along. We didn't see anything.

Tonight we are hunting what was our #1 spot. That was till yesterday. #1 spot was been hand corned for 3 weeks now. Have a really good sow there. Other place is about a mile away. Be corning it for a couple of weeks with only one hog coming in. I pulled camera and lights from this spot yesterday. When I got to the house I check camera. The last 2 nights have had a very large boar and a super sized sow. Headed right back out there and set everything back up and put out 100lbs of corn. Its now spot #1.

Little background on these spots.... They are both on 700 ac of lake front land. It get dog hunted and trapped year around. Not a lot of hogs on this place but the ones that are there are big and super smart. It has taken a few years hunting down there to figure out how to use the fences, creeks, and lake to keep hogs from circling us and catching our wind. We headed out it 4 today. I fed yesterday at 1pm and got busted tossing out corn. They are bedding in cane thicket about 60 yards away. So it may be a short hunt today.

Just got in stand. Hogs were on corn pile when we pulled up. They about 50 yards out right now behind tank dam.

Big sows came in babies. Boar would come him. That's fine I want one of the sows. Faced me the while time. I drawed thinking she might turn but never did. They on back side of tank now.
