    Attractant/additive Advice

Other than corn, what is the best food attractant you have used? I hunt in east texas where they don't always come to corn and am looking for an edge.

Has anyone used Acorn Rage and had good success with it?

I know others swear by the magic dust but I have heard it doesn't work in my area that well.

Maybe the food plot I put in will be enought to get them to come in.

The only other thing I have ever used was Buck Bran, Powder type attractant, the deer and pigs loved it, but it is way more expensive to feed it since you can't control the amount put out. If you went out and dumped a bag every day you would go broke

I have used Acorn Rage with my corn and it does seem to work better. But I also plant food plots also. A good food plot with always draw them in. I have my best luck hunting Postoak, Pinoak and white oat trees. If you are in East Texas fine a oak flat and hunt it..
      All the best.

Can't go wrong putting out salt unless you have cattle. I would also look around for mistletoe and put some of that out.

I heard they like mistletoe. Wish it was not so far up in the trees where I'm at.

In E texas find a oak with tons of droppings around it and carry lots of arrows. Leave the gimicks for the hill country were deer are starving.

I've had really good luck with alfalfa in East Texas, you just can't let it get wet or it molds. I usually just throw a pad out when I'm out. If it gets rained on, I take the old a ways away and put some more out. You could build a feeder of some sort, but I just like to throw it on the ground with a little hand fed corn.

I have hunted east Texas my whole life and never hardly had any success with a feeder. I hand throw corn and killed many bucks. In some places deer just don't like to eat at feeders. Just my .02

Deer on some of the properties I hunt dont get much acorns, they are like addicts looking fo their next fix of acorn rage.
