Anyone have a Glock 22 jam because of a tac light?

At firearms quals today and my partner had several FTF's on a G22 in .40 caliber, shooting 180 grain GDHP with a Surefire X300 Ultra attached. I wasn't sure if his hand position was causing it because it looked like his thumbs might have been making slight contact with the slide (he shoots when them up). He said he wasn't limp wristing it so I fired off a couple myself. I got a weak cycle on the first round I fired but it cycled fully. Then it jammed on me (FTF) about 10 rounds later. He took the light off and it cycled fine for the next 15-20 until he ran out of ammo. His gun is basically brand new (less than 400 rounds) and was VERY clean.

My G17 ran like a top and had no problems at all even with the same light setup. I shot lights out BTW (shameless plug)

Edit: This is a Gen 4 Glock 22

I've seen the Gen 3 glock 22s have some issues on our range, but they're isolated to TLR1's. I've heard it's the way the light attaches to the rail messes with the frame if it's clamped down too tight. I've never seen any m functions that have been caused by the surefire though.

Yes, have had the same issue. Either not tightening the light down to the rail too tight helps or remove completely. In this line of work no light is worth a possible FTF

One of our guys had a TLR-1 and we switched the light, same problem. I'm a firm believer in lights on a pistol, especially on night shift (which we are). So, just taking the light off is not an option.

That's disappointing to hear. I thought they had it fixed with the Gen 4. I tried to induce malfunctions with mine and couldn't do it. No matter how tight I put that light on or what position I held it. Guess I'll start getting the word out at our department.

This is why I carry the G17

There have been known issues with certain Glocks and certain lights. I thought that Glock changed the guide rod/spring to help that but don't remember which model(s) or lights.

I had an issue simmialar to this. Have him switch out his RSA and run it wet for a couple hundred more rounds. that should fix it.

My issue appears to be with the extended slide locks, when I shoot my thumb tends to engage them, removed them and all appears to be well

I had one stove pipe, due to using some cheap russian wolf ammo. Never had one single problem outside of that, no matter what accessory, how much dirt or mud was in it.

Yeah, I thought it was just a Gen 3 Glock 22 issue....apparently now that I've researched it a little more, it's only showing up on .40 caliber guns. I am trying to get the kid to switch to a real man's gun, a 9mm of course

I had a G22 with a TLR1 that was my lease gun and it was 100% reliable. Buddy had the same setup and had constant issues with FTF and stovepipes, pulled the light on his and it ran great. It seems to be hit or miss with them, either they run perfect or suck all the time.

                          Yep. I had a Gen 3 G22 that ran flawlessly with a Surefire X200/X300

G22 gen 4 with tlr1-s. Never an issue and I bought it when they came out. Went to the range last week, shot 100 rounds out of it after not cleaning it for 4 or 500 other practice shots.
