This year was crazy busy with work and I didn't get to hunt much but its constantly been on my mind. With that being said when I first got into bow hunting I had an episode of gear-a-holism. I thought I needed a pack with all sorts of trinkets in it. I understand the need if your looking to make an all day sit but I have started to see that I don't need all that stuff. What do you guys say ?? Pack full of stuff or getting back down to the bare bones and honing your skills in the woods?

I don't use much. In my pack, which is fairly small, I carry 2 flashlights, 2 headlamps, binos, rangefinder, knife, drag rope, flagging tape, electrical tape, pen, grunt call, candy bar or pop tarts, and a bottle of water or 2. Those are the main essentials I would need without having to go to the truck first after shooting something.
Sounds like a lot, but most is pretty small and compact.

Minimalist Hunting
Sorry, I don't understand the question or am having comprehension issues...in addition to my other issues.....
I hunt 1.5 hours from home on a nice lease but don't have a camp. I stay with family but most of my gear stays in the truck. I have a second car so I don't have to drive the truck to work.
I can fill it by myself for the weekend.....
Nothing but the necessities....Bow, rifle(s), shotgun, arra's, bullets, scope mounted Hawg light, day pack (LOADED with too much to list), clothes, rope, cooler(s), tools, extra hat, corn, shovel, duct tape, coon traps, snack sticks, BEER, cold weather gear (can't trust the weather man), shooting sticks, small pack with varmint gear (callers, decoy, wind checker, face mask, gloves, hat), plastic rubber maid tote (batteries, rope, saw, lantern(s), thermocell, wet weather gear, first aid kit, emergency gear, spare Binoc's, extra camera arm, harness for tree stand, duct tape, box o knife gear, heater).
And a few misc. items....

Sorry for not being clear enough on this. I am talking about making a sit in the stand on your lease. What do you carry to the stand. There are some out there that carry a bottle of scent spray, an ozonics (not knocking it at all) extra release, bow repair kit, etc........
Yes when I head to the lease my truck is packed to the brim with all sorts of stuff but when it comes to sitting in the stand what all do you carry.
And an example of what I meant by honing my skills is instead of carrying an ozoneics or the extra spray how about focus on what the wind is doing.
I have a small tactical pouch that has enough stuff for me to tag a deer, field dress it, and drag it either to camp or to the nearest road and it all fits in my pockets
