A Millennial's Response to the TT Video

Alright I know I'm going to get pounded but as a "millennial" by age, I feel the need to respond to the video that was posted. Let me also say that I got all the questions right (even the last) and did well in HS and college history but still have lots to learn.

    Here it goes:

    1. These type of videos are typically edited. How many interviews did it take to compile a half dozen respondents that didn't know what they are talking about? They've done the same with adults and make them look just as foolish. What they didn't show you were statistics on the amount of people interviewed and the overall responses.

    2. This isn't just a generational thing. We see more of this because more shows up on the Internet for everyone to see and share. I guarantee we could go back to when any of you were 18-22 and find people who couldn't answer the same questions.

    3. I do, however, have a problem with kids more interested in "Snookie" than current affairs but to be honest, besides maybe the baby boomer generation, when have we not had a generation genuinely interested in pop culture vs. history/politics?

What you don't see on the interview is the % of millennials that know their history and have their head on their shoulders. The majority of people I associate myself with around my age would pass this test with flying colors and run circles around most in several other areas.

I'm not trying to bash the video, it's sad, but to take a few edited videos and tie them to an entire generation is frustrating for me.

Grain of salt buddy. My first thought was how many people did they interview to find those few.
I do jobs training for folks just out of high school and college. Good kids looking to get into Natural Resource jobs and to build their resume. I'm willing to bet maybe 2 out of the 60 wouldn't be able to handle those questions.

I don't take it personal I just hope people see the bigger picture instead of what's in front of them.

Every generation had it's issues and naysayers.
Their are plus's and negatives to all of them.

Yessir I Do. I've been working with/training folks 18-26 for the last ten years. Most of them have the sense to come to our program to learn how to work. As in in the field physical labor. They got the book smarts but lack the grab it with your hands and get it done.

The old saying is true: the times may change, but people never do.

What we do now as a whole, we would have done as a whole 150 years ago.

You know why people didn't sit around playing video games in 1940? Playstation wasn't invented yet.

I misunderstood your response so I removed my question before you responded. I read it like "the majority couldn't answer the questions" instead of your response that most could. Long day.

I train vegetarians for outdoor work that understand why hunting is a valuable tool in ecological work/restoration. They don't want to do it. But they encourage those who do. These kids aren't dumb. Only the ones who get their faces on the screen are.

I think the average kid today couldn't answer a bunch of those questions.
