Alright I know I'm going to get pounded but as a "millennial" by age, I feel the need to respond to the video that was posted. Let me also say that I got all the questions right (even the last) and did well in HS and college history but still have lots to learn.
Here it goes:
1. These type of videos are typically edited. How many interviews did it take to compile a half dozen respondents that didn't know what they are talking about? They've done the same with adults and make them look just as foolish. What they didn't show you were statistics on the amount of people interviewed and the overall responses.
2. This isn't just a generational thing. We see more of this because more shows up on the Internet for everyone to see and share. I guarantee we could go back to when any of you were 18-22 and find people who couldn't answer the same questions.
3. I do, however, have a problem with kids more interested in "Snookie" than current affairs but to be honest, besides maybe the baby boomer generation, when have we not had a generation genuinely interested in pop culture vs. history/politics?
What you don't see on the interview is the % of millennials that know their history and have their head on their shoulders. The majority of people I associate myself with around my age would pass this test with flying colors and run circles around most in several other areas.
I'm not trying to bash the video, it's sad, but to take a few edited videos and tie them to an entire generation is frustrating for me.
