    Hog trapping action

I had these in my photobucket from a year or so ago. Figured I would share and with deer season coming to a close it will be time to start setting the traps again!

Here's my best 1-day catch--20 total in 3 traps. These two traps are about 250 yds apart and the 3rd trap is on another place. I was a bit tired after all that cleaning too--

What kind of trigger did you use on the first trap to get that many in there? Incredible

gingib--I use a wire across the back of the trap about 12-15" from the back, with a wire from it to the door release at the top corner of the door. The release is a hook that is attached to the top of the cage. When they root under the trip wire, the hook is pulled off the door and the spring closes the door. The key to filling the trap is to paint the floor of the trap gold with corn and not just put corn in the back at the trigger wire. That way the first ones that come in start eating right there and more and more can keep pushing in until one finally gets to the back and kicks the trip wire.

To wet/sloppy in Llano. I hate cleaning muddy pigs. :-)

After y'all catch em, do y'all just shoot with a pistol or cut em or what?

The ones in the small traps get pistoled! The ones in the large pen trap--big ones I stop 100 yds away and shoot them with the .22-250 because if I don't when I drive up to the trap within pistol range, they sometimes climb out.
