    Starting charcoal with a torch

This is a quick video I did today using a Snow Peak 2 Way torch with butane to start my grill. This is a super fast way to light charcoal with much less ash than a chimney. The coals were ready in about 10 minutes.

If you don't like using a torch, check out the Looft Lighter. Best thing I've got for lighting charcoal. Worth the investment.

The thing I like the most about this snow peak 2 way torch is it doesn't whiff out when you point it down into the coals. Other torches I've tried have been very frustrating.

If I ever wear it out I might try the Looft Lighter.

I just use a fire starter stick. I got a small torch and big one and prefer the sticks

That's how we start our burn piles and such.

Forget throwing matches, lit ends of rolled up paper and whatever.

If you want to get real serious use one of those torch down/cactus burners.

I agree those long propane powered weed burners are the ultimate. They take up a lot of space though. This little compact $40 torch has gobs of power and easily fits in the grill box.

Has to be better than charcoal lighter fluid. I get so tired of that mess. Academy sell anything like that?

I've seen most just put a chimney over top a propane/gas burner on high for a couple of minutes. I couldn't tell from the video how long it would take for all the coals to be evenly lit. With the chimney/stove it is just like the paper... just no ash/paper to deal with.

I keep a pear burner hooked up to a propane tank. I light it, stick the end down in the charcoal and walk away and let it do its thing.
