China Creates 55 Billion Tons of Artificial Rainfall Per Year Using Cloud Seeding

Ran across this article today and made me wonder...if they're artificially tapping that much water out of the atmosphere, what other places (like in the U.S.) could be suffering droughts because of it?

If my math is correct, 55 Billion Tons would equate to just under 3" of rainfall for the entire state of Texas annually. Not saying it would all fall here but that's got to make a difference globally...

I would think cloud seeding would only produce light rains where most would evaporate back into the atmosphere. I never have understood why they have a monsoon season.

Trade winds change based on seasonal ocean currents in the Indian Ocean.

We have a monsoon season too where moisture is pushed out of the Gulf of Calfornia. Its doesn't often come far enough west to help out Texas, but west Texas and the panhandle occasionally get the effects/benefit.

I doubt rainfall in China greatly affects the US' total rainfall.

There is a great deal of doubt whether cloud seeding works, and the article doesn't offer much proof that its effective.

A lot of variables required to make precip of any kind. You can have all the moisture in the world but with no lift to produce condensate all you have are lots of clouds. Conversely you can all the lift in the world with no moisture and all you get is turbulence.

I just hope that all of whatever concoction they are putting up there falls out on them and no one else. No telling what that crap is..

Most of us can not fully control our own eating habits now they want to play GOD and control the weather.

                  Sounds like a bad idea.
