Astros making a strong attempt at contending

But will they do it? Signed gregerson and neshak for the pen added a proven player back to the middle infield in lowrie, got a heavy bat with gattis....... Still lookin for another arm but did make this trade today to firm up hot corner and added a young arm

But is it enough....... As long as they finish ahead of the Rangers

I think it was a decent trade. I wasn't huge on Fowler but he was a decent outfielder. I like the potential Straily has and looks like he could be a solid reliever if starting doesn't pan out. The left handed hitter Valbueno should challenge and might beat out Domninguez if he doesn't start hitting better. I fully expect the Stros to be major players for a front line starter like Zimmerman in the offseason next yr.

I'm a Rangers fan before the Stros but it's nice to see them turning that corner again. Few poor seasons have grown their farm system again and they've saved some cash to be able to go after free agents once again. Pitching is key for both teams to become contenders.

I like the trade as well...... Fowler never panned out to be the player he was expected to be. Yes he was a better than average outfielder but I think Marsinick is hands down the better all round player

Contender for what? Still a couple years away. But, can you say NOLAN RYAN? It won't be long. Congrats to all the Stros fans

These moves to go with a top of the rotation pitcher and I'm happy.

Good pitching and lots of it will be the key for me.

I like Marsinick too. A guy to watch for to sneak into some playing time in the of is Preston Tucker. Solid player with plus pop.

They are getting there. Definitely a lot to be excited about. The good thing about it is there is only one way for them to go!

I've been a Rangers fan all my life. But as a grown up you see more of the goings on and can develop your own opinion. I supported the Rangers through the Hamilton thing and even when they screwed michael young. But after the kinsler trade, running Nolan Ryan out, and Jon Daniels just being a general ******r. I'm going to support the Astros this year. Hope they do well. Seems like they are putting together a good club for the future.

Here is another interesting story. Voglesang to Houston?
Would be a good arm to justify getting rid of Peacock all together and relegate Oberholtzer to the pen where he would be able to excel. I just don't think Obie is starting rotation quality

On top of this, they reportedly just signed Colby Rasmus to a 1 yr deal. Outfield is gonna be crowded or another trade is in the works!!
