Anyone successfully growing any exotic fruits or veggies?

With the increased garden space I will have this year I'm looking to add some new (outside the norm) vegatable or fruits this season to broaden the families taste. Anyone got any suggestions? I have been looking into some exotic tomatoes such as the "Cream Sausage Tomatoe" as well as some high yeilding "Yellow Goosberry Tomatoes"? Anything cool out there I am missing out on I should look into?

My grandad used to grow a squash/melon/cucumber type vegetable, I finally found a place that sells seeds I'm going to try. In the seed catalog it's called a new giunea butter vine grows a watermelon colored squash about 4" thick and 3-4' long. Then you can go over to u-tube and check out the permaculture vids, you just have weed through them to avoid the dancing-mud covered-moonbeam-commune living-hippies, to find a lot of cool stuff those guys grow. Also try doing a search for food forest tour.

I have a Pineapple Guava bush. Nice bush, beautiful flowers in spring and an interesting fruit to eat.

Jujube tree. Puts out an interesting fruit kinda like a small apple the size of a cherrie. We did have a fig tree but last winter got it.

I tired several chiles last year but they didn't fair well. I'm going for round 2 this year with them and try a few things different.

Ordered me a 25pk of ghost last night. I almost bought the reapers but couldn't think of a reason to grow them other than to re-sale them once a ft tall or so.

You might want to consider thornless blackberries. It is consistently the most popular item in my garden.

I grow these about 30 miles from you towards Poteet.

My dad has five mature avocado trees that he grew from just the seed. Yum yum

Blackberries and figs. My next goal is sweet potatoes and a pear tree

Scotty, where do you order you seeds for those peppers? I've made your salsa recipe many times, but it's time to kick up the heat.
