    Average Deer Body Weights?

I've searched TPWD for information on Texas deer, but haven't had much luck. I'm looking for a breakdown of body weights (live and/or dressed) of deer by region, age, and gender. I'm specifically interested in the Pineywoods region, if possible. Anybody have a resource?

BTW, I did try searching on here, but the search function isn't working for me right now. It just sits on a white screen.

No resources but we weigh all our deer before field dressing. Northern medina county, Buck 150 up to 170 and does 100- 115 on mature deer for us. We are low fence 500+- acres. Feed some protein. Gonna put in about 12 acres of food plots and see is that helps.

My dad shot this doe between Brady and Menard yesterday. Big for our area.

Check with the Parks and Wildlife dept. I know I've seen data on this subject, but can't remember where.

NE Texas bucks we typically kill are in the 200 pound range with the heaviest at 238.

Ok, looking at it another way, does anybody (any region) have an idea about their average buck weights at 3.5, 4.5, and 5.5?

TWPD ought to have info they can filter in TWIMS for SA & Sabine Co(s). Our live weights are generally around 180 for 5yo+ bucks, 130 for mature does. SE Nac Co.

We just finished a youth hunt in southern Marion county. A 5-1/2 year old doe live weighed 124 lbs. Officially weighed and aged by federal game biologist. Obviously she was larger than average due to her age and pregnancy.

Ever see many of the 3.5 yo bucks weigh in the 170s?

We have to get field dressed weight at our lease. Our 2.5 year does go around 70# and our 3.5-5.5's go 80-85 field dressed. I've seen bucks (3.5-4.5) on our log from 110-140 field dressed. This is in jasper county between buna and kirbyville

If one hits it that I've seen it's an early Oct deer. Isn't unreasonable with a deer with the right build, that's around a 130lb field dressed weight. There are always exceptions and deer that are just built different.
