    scope ring question

I don't know which ring height i should get for my new gun. I'm putting a vortex viper 6.5-20x50 with a 30mm tube on the gun. The scope will be on a one piece picatinny mount and I'm wondering if i should get medium height or high. what would y'all do?

It is hard to have a hard rule. I just get the lowest rings I can without the scope touching in the front or getting in the way of the bolt (if bolt action). Maybe start with high and work down.

You MAY be able to get away with low rings and do that if you can. But with 50mm, you may have to go to mediums.

      Lower the better

Thanks guys. I'm going to go with the medium size.

med will give you plenty of room, depending on what brand of base you go with will determine how close to barrel you are. I just installed the Viper PST 6-24x50 on my VSSF 22-250 with Vortex tactical med rings and Extreme hardcore gear 20 MOA base, could have gone with low rings.
