I am looking at my boots thinking that its about time for a new pair pretty soon. Ive always wanted a pair of elephant hide boots, but they are steep for a teacher to afford. Im just wondering if they are worth the price. I wear boots every day of the week, and spend several hours in the shop, so my boots take a beating. Ide love to have a pair of boots that can take that beating all week long, spend all day Saturday working at the lease in the mud and grime, and still clean up nice for church on Sunday. Is the elephant really good enough to handle all that?

Real elephant is pretty dang tough. Shark is tough, the toughest I've ever seen is stingray but it's ugly as sin IMO. You can literally take a box cutters to stingray and it's not going to leave a scratch. I've done it myself.
If you decide to do real elephant, go custom. Personally I really like Black Jack Boots. They are made in El Paso.
What size do you wear?

What about brand name, in stock stuff? Im about an 11EE in most brands. Problem is, not all brands run that size. I found a pair of Double-H on sale for $100 off. Only other ones Ive found are customs. Got prices from about $600+ for a custom pair, which is way out of budget at the moment. Realistically, its all out of budget this year, but that's beside the point. I figure if Im gonna have to save up, custom is just gonna take me that much longer. Actually at least twice as long, or longer.

Double H are pretty good working and every day boots but l don't think they are going to last as long as you think with daily wear. Just my .02.
Yeah that size is gunna be pretty dang hard to find in just about any boot on a stock shelf.
When I worked in western wear, I think I can only remember a handful of times when we stocked sizes like that. Anyone should be able to order them once you find some you like though.
