    Going to fish Canada!

I am going for a week at the end of may we have the opportunity to catch pike walleye lake trout smallies and large mouth. I am putting together a list and have about everything I think except for my tackle box lined up what do yall fish for what species I have never caught lakers or pike and I have never really fished for walleye.

I know I am being very broad, I am not really looking for anything specific just wonder what yall would bring and maybe some new techniques to me.

    Thanks in advance brain trust

We fished Rainy Lake up in Canada a few years ago targeting mainly pike and smallies. For Pike we used Rapala Husky Jerks and big inline spinner baits with buck tails. We fished all of these with titanium leaders. We caught all of our smallies on mid size inline spinners fish sheer rock faces. We also had luck with the big 3 blade buzzbaits early in the morning for pike over weed beds up in coves.

If the water temp is warm & the pike are aggressive, use Big Bucktails!! If the water is cool, down size them. Go to Rollie & Helens Musky Shop (on the web). They have everything for trophy musky & pike!!

I fish up there every May during our bear hunt. If you fish saltwater like I do it is very easy. Think of Pike like a Redfish and Walleye like a Speckled trout. Same bait apply. I love throwing big weed less silver spoons for pike. You can't get a spoon too big for them. You can fish the spoon in heavy cover without a problem. I also like big soft plastic swim baits for pike. Walleye will eat any curly tail jig. I like white soft plastics for the walleye. Always use a titanium leader or the Pike will destroy you. If you catch it right there is nothing crazier than big Pike on top waters.
