I love bourbon, but there is no way I would pay $800 for it. Knob Creek, Buffalo Trace, Wild Turkey, those are all very quality bourbons that don't cost $800. My go to when I am at home is Jim Beam lol

I've drank pappy, awesome bourbon but to be honest. Bulleit rye tastes almost as good to me and it's cheap. Good bourbon doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg.

maybe i shouldn't have used the term "illegal". i may have been under the influence as i typed this last night.

exactly what i meant was as some put it above, against agreement with the distributor is more what i was referring to, but i couldn't think of that termanology last night!

Living in Bourbon country here in Lexington, part of the price hike is the theft of lots of the van winkle last year. If you can find it up here atleast it is not as expensive, and sometimes buffalo trace has it in their gift shop for way cheaper than 799.

Next time I'm in Frankfort i can swing by and check and see if they have any.

I did not realize it was that rare - I located some a couple years ago, and I thought it was just over $100. That said, I got the next step down and was not impressed enough to continue the quest - I prefered Basil Baden's ryed Bourbon.

I know someone that just scored it recently but it took him quite a while and he'd worked in a liquor store before and knew who to ask. The theft thing really messed up the works.
