Buy a 12V outlet. Looks like a cigarette lighter socket.
Connect it to the battery.
Plug a USB charger into the socket.
Plug charging cable into charger.
According to the specs listed of 7-13 volts yes you can wire it to a 12v battery, it's showing 7.4v nominal voltage so if needed you can simply install a 12v riostsat between the battery and the plug you will use such as a 12v cig. plug to lower it to exactly 7.4 volts. Pretty simple and straight forward. I have several of these I use for various items to control voltage but you can save money and go to Radio Shack and piece together one. You can buy this one from Night Force and you can also buy it in kit form with a carry bag, deep cycle battery with this mounted on top of the bag.
What I do though is buy a gel gel ATV battery "A Good One" and then purchase a small soft sided cooler with shoulder strap that the battery fits in nice and snug and then mount the controller to the lid of the cooler with 12v plug. Presto!!! You have a nice and neat portable 12v adjustable power source that runs your item.. If needed I can get a pic of one of my red neck set ups

This sounds like a good idea. I was thinking that alternators put out a higher voltage than 13 volts and could possibly cause damage. Regulating it down to s safer voltge would be wise.
Thanks for the info! I have a deep cycle battery that's in the bed of my Kawasaki mule that's only used for my lightforce. Its not hooked up to an alternator or anything. Thanks guys!
If you need/want to test out the dimmer set up let me know and I'll gladly take one off and ship it to you for a trial run. Shoot me a pm if you are.
Just FYI if you varmint hunt much the dimmers make a BIG difference in not spooking the critters as bad on really dark nights!! so you could have a multi purpose set up. That's why I have as many as I do
Awesome thank you thumper! I actually have one. I've have a lightforce portable that I bought from Cajun Blake. We are going to try to go all lightless. I'm going to hook theses to a pulsar recon 750 night vision monocular that's mounted on a pistol grip. I'm going to use this like I would a lightforce but totally light free. Both the shooters have photons.
