I rig my trigger about the same as OP. Since my doors are top-hinged, I use a home made 3-piece upside down "U" that holds all 3 door sections up. Rope from the top of the U to the trip wire at back of pen. Trip wire is just mule tape stretched from one side of the pen to the other so that it is about 5-6' from back of pen and a foot above ground. Tie the rope to the mule tape, stretch reasonably tight, pour corn under the trip wire and then feed inside the pen all over. This keeps the first pig inside from running straight to the bait pile and tripping the trap as he/she will stick their face in the first corn they come to and others will crowd in. Eventually one starts rooting around the trip wire and bingo--got 'em.

I believe 5'. Also noticed a buck with a broken back leg while hunting. We shot him. Also noticed that the hog trap had a big dent in the top portion of the trap. Don't know if the trap caused it or not

Been a week so I Checked the trap today and very discouraged. Corn piling up under feeder in trap, no pictures on cameras. But plenty of hog tracks on road 10' from trap. Checked other feeders and corn piling under them also.
I guess they don't like corn anymore.
