TPWD private lands and habitat program

Does anyone have any experience with the program? I have some questions.

We have 450 AC of low fence. I think it's worth a shot but I'm getting resistance from the other members. They contend that it won't do any good on that small of a ranch. One guy even went so far as to say it would only benefit HF.

Also, is it pretty involved or is it pretty half-hearted. I don't want to sell the guys on it then have TPWD not really do much. I mean, it's free, but you know how guys are with their expectations.

Not familiar with it, does it bear any resemblance to the Wildlife Exemption program?

Im not familiar with that program, but I would be willing to bet its like most other TPWD biologist related things. They will come out, give you a broad recommendation that they give most everyone in the region, and then its in your hands.

I would do a survey, base your harvest allotment off of it and your goals, and consider having a private biologist out to look closely at the place and tell you what you can improve on.

You absolutely can do things on that acreage to improve your herd.
