    Pool Builder San Antonio Area

I know, I know.... But, The family is looking into getting a pool built in the San Antonio area. I'm in Lakehills, but all the San Antonio builders will come out here. I am asking for any recommendations if any one here has built a pool recently. We are starting to get designs and bids done and I want to make sure to cover all my bases. I know I will get the fun remarks telling me not to do it, and that's fine, however I would like any recommendations if there are any to be had.

    Thanks in advance

We interviewed four pool companies and just asked them to design something "reasonably cool and not crazy expensive"" before we settled on Keith Zars Pools. http://www.keithzarspools.com/ . Research all the high brow neighborhoods where everyone has a pool, we found that most advertised a "Keith Zars Pool" by name when selling their homes, as opposed to another pool company who may be lesser known in the community. We have had it now for going on five years and it's been an absolute blessing. We always knew where both our Boys were throughout all of their high school years and their friends were always at our house. Raising kiddos is tough and harder than ever to keep tabs on everybody with all the online social interaction. My wife and I agreed it was more than we wanted to pay and not the most practical thing we could do with the money, HOWEVER, we would do it again tomorrow. Kick in the extra $10k and do the heated hot tub. I know it's expensive but the wifey likes it and its the bomb knowing that after tonight's date night when its 30 degrees outside, I will be crawling into a 102 degree hot tub for a night cap.

Based on our neighborhood, we figure to have increased our house value .50 cents for every dollar we spent. The rest of the cost I consider an insurance policy to have kept both of my young, semi redneck rambunctious boys off the streets, out of questionable homes and in my backyard. Okay, sometimes they made me leave the backyard but we always knew where they were.

I finally gave in and built one as well. We used Zars for ours. They did a good job.

Speck, did you build recently? If you wouldn't mind, could you pm me rough budget numbers that you spent?

            Thanks

If you want it a cover for it look up lone star pool covers.

Stonewall pool co. He is with HFD and does pools as well. I've seen 2 of the ones he built and they are very nice.

Canyon Creek Pools did mine and they are great. Zars never would call me back after they gave me a bid. My pool was not cheap either.

I have heard that Zars can be tough on call backs. I'll look into Canyon Creek, have not heard of them. Thanks

They came over last night to look at everything and provide a bid/design. I have also heard they are expensive, but was willing to give them a shot. We'll see

We used Artesian on a pool we built 3 years ago. We sold our house, are rebuilding now, and they are the only ones we are talking to. Under-promise, over-deliver, and communicate perfectly. We weren't at the $100k level last time, but don't have the bid back for the new one yet. Can't say enough good things about them.

Take a look at Gary pools as well. Gary pools was started by Gary Zars Sr. and is now run by Gary Jr. who is also the older brother to Keith Zars.
