CHL cons question

I got pulled over about 15 years ago, I think, on my way home from the lease. I handed the Highway Patrolman my TDL and CHL. He asked where my weapon was and I told him is was in my pocket. He asked if he could see it so I got it out unloaded it and handed it to him. He looked it over and handed it back and asked if I had anymore. I told him I had another and all he said was OK.

I had my longbow and arrows on the passenger side of the truck so he asked about hunting. He gave me a warning for no front license plate and said he was killing time waiting on his father and brother to come through from their deer lease to see how they had done.

My friends in law enforcement have all told me that he should of never ask me for it. He should have had me show him where it was and let him take it. Beats me.

I've been pulled over a few times and handed both licenses to the officer. To be honest, I think they are somewhat relieved to know the person behind the wheel is a responsible citizen and not some every day thug.

I've never had an issue and typically have been issued warnings.

The pros outweigh the cons for carrying and I've never heard of what you're talking about and have been carrying for close to 5 years.

This has been my same experience. Don't want to jinx it but I've only got warnings when I show CHL.

We all have CHL. Its called the constatution 2nd amd. Never had a problem.

While I agree in principal, get caught walking around carrying a concealed handgun in public and let me know how that works out for ya.

And BTW there is a TON of people giving out INCORRECT information in this thread. If you are going to carry under CHL, take the time to learn the laws and the updates that typically go with them every legislative session.

And I honestly have no idea what a disadvantage of obtaining a CHL might be. I can think of nothing that would be no crime or a misdemeanor that would all of a sudden turn into a felony because a CHL was involved.

Only disadvantage I can think of is they get your finger prints. If you are not sure you never want to commit a crime (or have committed one), forget about the CHL

The only disadvantage I can think of is (and let me put on my foil hat) it puts your name on a list as a registered gun owner. If the Lefties ever over turn the 2nd they could get the CHL list and go knocking on doors. The could also get the NRA's membership list, and SCI, etc.


But I will get mine anyway.

Been pulled over twice, same mo as above... officer asked if I was carrying, one asked where it was both asked me to just leave it.

The second time the officer recognized me from when I used to work the gun counter and we started talking about preferences on what pistols to carry. about 10 minutes later he told me to be careful and make sure if I was carry to keep one in the chamber, lots of crazies out there.

I don't think that is the case. Kinda like saying all folks with drivers license has a registered vehicle.
