San Antonio Gun Range CHOICES

Howdy,

I'm headed to San Antonio this weekend and would like to do some shooting while I'm there. I'll be staying close to both Cedar Ridge Range and Bracken Rifle & Pistol Range.

Looking for suggestions of which one is the clear choice, or if either is fine. Even if there are others that are much better, these will be the close ones to me and I won't have a lot of spare time to go elsewhere.

Haven't been to Cedar Ridge in a while, but when I was there it was fine. Did hit up Bracken prior to this season and it is good as well.

I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.

I live by bracken...been to range several times. hardcore safety! which is a good thing! dude comes out and yells "everyone stop firing!!" 15min break while they change targets. you cannot be near your gun during this break.

nothing like bandera gun range....take your own target out there...free for all. hahahaha

Bracken is Nice. Its been a while since I was out at Cedar Ridge. I think it might have even changed ownership since I was out there last.

I've only been to Cedar Ridge because it is close to my house and there is nothing wrong with it. I have only used their rifle range, not the handgun area. The guy up front in the office can be a little dry to say the least but overall its not bad.

I live right between both and have frequented both. Lately I have been going to Bracken and prefer it over Cedar Ridge. The con with Bracken is that it is BUSY right now on the weekends. Last Saturday I waited 15 mins just to park.

If you go to Cedar Ridge and the main guy in charge asks if you have been there before SAY YES! If you say no, you have to read the rules then he gives you test....no joke a test. Every time I would go into Cedar Ridge he would give me a hard time until I embarrassed him in front of his buddies and room full of customers. So I go to Bracken now.

Yeah Bandera Gun Range is a free for all but has not had any problems. I have been going there since I was little and know all the older guys. They have done a lot of good things to that place!
