Machinist help? Looking to buy a CNC mill. What to buy.

Could any experienced CNC machinist or equipment salesmen PM me.
I'm in the market for a new/used vertical CNC mill, but have no clue what I need.

    Thanks
    Jordan

It won't let me PM anyone yet!

Im needing to machine 1" holes in 2"-6" diameter sch 10 304 ss pipe. The pipe is no longer than 60". There is 20 holes in each pipe all in a row length wise, with equal spacing. Im not necessarily concerned about the time it takes to run each piece as long as I can load the pipe and press a button and walk away to a degree. Shop space and power source isn't a concern. My engineer can is familiar with g code. Budget is no more than 10k.
    Thanks for your input.

Ask for Pecos at Late Model Engines 713-849-4505 He is an excellent machinist and can point you in the right direction. Tell him what you want to do and he will give you honest advice might even have a machine to sell you.

For under 10k. Sounds like a steal? I'm interested.

He is! Japanese....Mazak is a Japanese manufacturer of machinery equipment. Pretty good one.

Just FYI there is also a type of machine called a 'gang drill'. Consists of a row of spindles run off of a main drive. Drills a ton of holes all at once. Sounds like it is more appropriate for the type of work you are doing. They are used quite a bit to perforate pipe for well screens. Good luck

To drill/mill holes all in one operation over 60" is going to take a large mill. Even an old 30"X16" CNC mill is going to bust your budget and still be too small though you could do it in 3 Ops. How many do you have to do? Is this an ongoing project?
