Ok. Thanks for the input but still would like info on how someone did theirs.

Apparently he wants to build his own.
Guessing he can't buy what he wants ie bigger platform, combination of features.

Personally I would clone a game tamer type stand. If you are going to deal with heavy you might as well have comfort and function.

Copy the Gametamer/Woodsey Too type. I can install one of those hang-ons by myself. They are a little heavy, but manageable, very well built and have sat in one for the entire day many times.

But there's a reason store bought ones are TMA (Treestand Manufactures Association) approved. They are tested to rigorous standards for the safety of the hunter.

I built several about 30 years ago. They weigh about 50 pounds each and haven't been used in probably 27 years.
