    Food Plot Seeds

Where do you guys buy the individual seeds like purple hull peas, clover, winter peas and turnips? I would like to do my own mixture, just dont know where to buy the individual seeds at.

where do you hunt? Don't buy purple hulls to plant in the fall. Save them for your spring plot.

I hunt in Groveton (about 30 miles southwest of Lufkin). I'm really just looking for something to be productive early during bow season. It doesnt have to last through the entire hunting season, just through October.

Talk to the local feed store. If they dont stock bulk seed they can get it for you by the pound or 1/2 pound or whatever you want.

Most ranchers supply stores have them. Also try EastTexas Seed Co.. I think they are located near you.

I would not plant rye grass. It is not that palatable to deer (or cows really) it does ok, but unless fertilized really well most animals would prefer other forages. You cannot go wrong with oats and wheat. Mix in some winter peas and some various clovers and you have a mix that will last well into the spring

I've bought winter peas at the feed store in Trinity, I can't remember the name of the store for some reason. It is one block east of Hwy 19 between the 2 traffic lights. I've never asked for the other seeds you are looking for.

Stubbs also has the largest variety of Lonestar Feed hats I've ever seen.
