Sand blasting question.

What blasting media would be best for all around general purpose? I'll be be removing paint from everything from sheet metal and up. Also cleaning cast iron. Any thoughts?

Plain Ol' blasting sand works great and is by far the cheapest but the silica present in it is a big inhalation hazard.

Next best would be Aluminum Oxide which is more expensive but is re-usable if you are set up to reclaim it.

I'm sure that sand is the cheapest media out there. However, I think one of the best all around products out there is a blast media called "black beauty." Its around $18.00/bag I believe, we use on pipeline and facility piping joints due to it being a low ignition blasting media. Wouldn't hurt to give it a try.
