    Hog Hunting Feeder Light

Anybody recommend (or recommend against) a hog light or a DIY light system that can be setup at a feeder and also has a remote on/off switch? I'd like to use it so I can hunt with my spear at night time. I'm weird and don't really want a setup that comes on automatically at dark or is motion sensored.

I have the Elusive Wildlife technologies Kill Light and it works great. They also have a remote that you can purchase if you want. If you get the newer/upgraded Kill Light it has many options as far as motion detection, dusk to dawn, timer, etc.

Ok thanks, I'll look into that.

Not sure why you wouldn't want a light that is on all the time because that is the best way to go in my opinion but for what your looking for, why not just get a red flashlight that you can mount right next to you so you can turn it on and off when you want. Heck, since your using a spear, you could hold the light in one hand and throw with the other.

I have Moultrie's Feeder Light - runs off 4xC batteries. Motion, dusk, dawn, or all on. It is green and screws into the bottom of the Moultrie feeder motor housing. If you don't have that, it can be mounted in other ways. It was $45. I'm going to get the power panel to run it off solar, but it is $40, so I'm going to wait until the next hunting season.

Before that, I used photosensitive landscape lights. They cost the same but didn't last very long.

I was thinking of some kind of head lamp but I haven't found one that I like yet. Elusive wildlife technologies has one but to me it seems like it's more of a spotlight to be used for predator hunting. I sure wish you made one because I love the bow light I have

I know Fishndadio loves his Sniper Hog Light. They are site sponsors and good folks. I am going to have to get Joe and Rob to set Amy and I up with them for the coming spring hog slaying.

Elusive wildlife lights are what I use for my bow, rifle, and feeder.

We are working on a headlamp now and it will definitely work perfect for what you need. I though it would be done by now but it's taking much longer to get everything right then I thought it would. It probably wont be out until late spring. I would like to list all the capabilities of it but we have so many competitors that do nothing more then wait for us to come out with lights so they can copy them that I don't want to give any details to give them a head start.

What type of spear are you using as I'm curious because I bought one of the cold steel ones and it's just too big and bulky to throw. I know Cold steel makes a better one for throwing but I would like to hear your opinion. One thing I did with my spear was tape a lighted nock to it so you can see it on Video at night even though I haven't killed with it yet the lighted nock taped on the spear works good, you just have to remember to turn it on. Now I just have to get back to trying to kill one with a spear.

                    Thank you.
I just got a cold steel spear for Christmas, but it's one that's no longer featured on their website. It's a Cold Steel European Arms with a Leaf shaped blade. It's about the length and weight of their Assegai spear. I'm still practicing with it before I go out and try to get my first kill with it. I didn't want to get their Samburu spear that's made specifically for throwing until I learned how to throw a spear. The reviews I read about the Samburu say that the shaft breaks rather easy. That's most likely from throwing it at an improper target for practice though. I practice on an old block target or a hay bale.

Taping a nock on the end of the spear is a good idea. I've been wanting to get some cameras to start filming myself but idk which cameras to get. I want 1 action camera and 1 standard filming camera (if that makes sense). What camera do you use?
