    Backcountry hunting with Llamas,need input

Thinking of buying a couple gelded llamas to use on my backcountry trips.Have any of yall done this before.Im wondering how difficult it would be to train a three-year-old llama to carry a pack.Any input is greatly appreciated

Man I would rather pack 100# in on my back than to have to deal with pack animals. You have to have water for both them and you and it would just be more trouble than it's worth in my opinion. I would just find a packer in the area you are hunting that will help you get an animal out if you kill one. I would rather pay 300-500$ for that and not worry about llamas

From what ive read,Llamas need very little water, and even less care in the field.I havent heard one negative about them, from several forums. They just seem like a viable option for me.Hiring a packer kinda negates DIY imo

Steve Rinella, (Meat Eater), and his brother used them on their show once. The brother owned them and carried them around in the back of a dodge van.
